Who Can Ride the Koloa Course: Age, Weight and Health
The rules for the 8-line zipline tour at Koloa: minimum age 7, 280 lbs at most, tandem for lighter riders, and the health conditions that rule a rider out, with who sets each one.
To ride Koloa Zipline’s 8-line course you must be at least 7 years old and weigh no more than 280 lbs. Under-18s ride with a parent or guardian. The course is not for pregnant travellers, people with back or heart problems, people recovering from recent surgery, or anyone afraid of heights, and it is not wheelchair accessible. No minimum height is set for this course; light riders go tandem instead.
This page covers the Koloa course only. The rules below come from koloazipline.com (read November 2026) and from the GetYourGuide and Viator bookings for the same tour; where they differ, the table says whose rule it is.
Age
| Rule | Who sets it |
|---|---|
| Minimum age 7; children under 7 cannot ride | koloazipline.com, GetYourGuide and Viator alike |
| Every minor rides with a parent or guardian | koloazipline.com |
| Bookings are made by adults aged 18 or over | koloazipline.com |
| Under-18s must be with an adult aged 25 or older | Viator’s booking rules for this tour |
There is no upper age limit on any of the three. Older riders meet the same health rules as everyone else.
Weight

The maximum is 280 lbs (127 kg) on all three. Lighter guests may have to ride tandem: two riders clipped to the cable as normal and tethered to each other, so the lighter one reaches the far platform. It depends on the rider’s weight and on the weather, and it usually happens with younger children. A tandem pair can weigh up to 250 lbs together, so a parent can ride with a child, a child with a friend, or a guide with a light rider (koloazipline.com, November 2026).
None of the three gives a minimum weight or a minimum height for this course.
Health
The tour is not suitable for pregnant travellers, for people with back or heart problems, or for anyone afraid of heights. Bone or joint problems and recent surgery rule a rider out as well, and neck or knee injuries and severe allergies are reasons not to go (koloazipline.com, November 2026).
If you have had an operation in the last six months, check with the operator before you book. The course also needs a high level of physical fitness, and spinal injuries and poor cardiovascular health rule a rider out.
The tour is not wheelchair accessible. Smoking and alcohol are not allowed on the course.
If one of your group does not qualify
Settle the rules before you book. Booked direct, there are no refunds for riders who do not complete the tour (koloazipline.com, November 2026). If someone in your group is too young or over the weight limit, the price guide has the cancellation windows, and ziplining with kids covers tandem rides in more detail.
